Watercolour painting: simple owl

Watercolour on paper

I’m really getting into watercolour painting! I used to avoid it like death. Been weaning myself into it with simple, self-contained pieces like this.

I was thinking about my art ‘style’ or lack thereof. I’ve never been someone that has a necessarily distinct art style, but that’s something I like about my art – I think lacking an art style can give you greater versatility. If there’s one art skill I’d love to master, it’s being able to switch my art style as smoothly as switching gears on a car. I’m working towards this, I think it is absolutely achievable. These days whenever I see a cross-hatched piece that’s particularly skilled, I study the line-work and imitate it the next time I draw. I am never not amazed at how many ways there are of drawing/painting one simple subject. You will hear more developments on this soon đŸ™‚
